Bay Area Argentine Tango Association

The Bay Area Argentine Tango Association is a vibrant non-profit association which supports Tango events by pulling information together in one place. We were founded in 1992 by the Bay Area tangueros in hope of educating the public the joy of dancing tango.

We promote the art of Argentine Tango to our community of hundreds of tangueros in the Bay Area and beyond. We try to accomplish this mission through organizing various outreach events and workshops by bringing together dancers and musicians to teach, learn, and perform. We have been organizing free events such as San Francisico's Tango in the Square for the last several years. In late 2008, we started our new exciting pilot product, the Zine. The full version of the Tango Zine will be available on-line to our members and as printed publications on-demand.

Majority of our funding has come from charitable donation and membership dues. To continue supporting Argentine Tango promotion, please join us to become one of our members. As of 2009, dues are $35 a year for individuals and $60 for couples. It is the very best way to get in touch and support the many tangoing events in the Bay Area!

We welcome volunteers to join our various committees to make our websites more interesting, edit our calendar events, produce the Tango Zine, reach out to our members, interview visiting teachers and performers, organize special events, and promote Argentine Tango to our community. We invite you to be one of our strategic supporters by coming to our Board of Director's meetings. Meetings are on the 2nd Sunday of each month, alternating between SF and the East Bay.
